CAROLS ON THE LAWN: A LIFE TEEN CHRISTMAS 2012!!

JOIN US for a fun-filled, joyful night full of hot chocolate, treats, trolley-riding, caroling, funny gifts, tacky sweaters, and delicious gumbo!  It's not too late to get in on the fun!

Meet us THIS SUNDAY (Dec 16th) @ 5:00 Mass.  After Mass we'll be loading up the trolleys and heading out to bring some Christmas Cheer to the home-bound members of our St. Mary parish community.  Come help us herald the coming of our King by giving those who don't get to participate in parish life the chance to celebrate with us, sing along to a few songs, and share some smiles and laughter!  We'll get to enjoy some hot chocolate while we ride through town and sing!

After the ride is over, we'll head back to Founder's Hall for some delicious gumbo, and we'll play a fun game of White Elephant!  All you have to do is bring a WRAPPED fun (or funny) gift worth $5 OR LESS (you can buy it, make it, find it, regift it...or whatever!) and we'll have the chance to open some presents, grapple for the best gifts, and have some CHRISTMAS FUN!

And, if you're feeling brave, there will be a prize for the ugliest Christmas sweater!

SO, bring your Christmas Cheer, your $5 or less gag gift, your appetite, and wear your Christmas "Best"--trust me, YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!

DON'T FORGET! CAROLS ON THE LAWN: A LIFE TEEN CHRISTMAS!
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16th FROM 6:00pm to 9:00pm!!  SEE YOU THERE!

Life Teen, 2012-2013 Kicks off with a Skit

Last night we highlighted the very visible signs that are present with all of the sacraments.  The teens saw the matter and form, which are necessary for each sacrament to be valid in the eyes of the Church.  Every sacrament conveys sanctifying grace in some way, by some means.  In other words, every sacrament we receive helps to make us holier.  Every sacrament also has matter - something tangible that is instrumental in bringing about the sacrament.  Every sacrament also has form - a ritual or formula that must happen for the sacrament effects to take place.   We went over those matters and forms of each sacrament last night.

Out of the Kitchen Skit click this link to watch skit.  ALSO Fall RETREAT every teen in our Life Teen program must attend this retreat, November 16-17-18 it will be held in Richard, LA about 45 min drive, bus transportation will be provided, Form available at Life Nights.  AND Cove crest is filling up quick, as of this post we only have 13 spots left, as always PLEASE call me with any questions at 337-235-7839, Peace be with you all, Art Garrett!

  1. I just wanted to say thank you to you guys one more time. I can honestly say I've never felt closer to a group of people, and to Christ, than I do now. I know now that I was never alone like I thought I was. And I'll never again feel that way, because I know y'all will be there for me. Every one of you changed me for the better this week. And remember: you are the best, be happy, and I truly do love each of you dearly. -Adell

Blog from Tori Cruice

Hey guys! First I just wanted to say thank you for all the prayers that have been said for those of us at Covecrest. Second I want to give a big thanks to our Core team! Without them, none of this would be possible. Okay, so anyway! My week at Covecrest was a very moving one. I went into this week apprehensive and anxious. I went to camp last year and was scared that my second year wouldn't be able to compare. Boy was I wrong! Eventhough my experiences and feelings were different, my second year at camp definitely lived up to my first. God showed me that I have so much to be thankful for and there are so many beautiful people in my who love me and can help me have a deeper relationship with my amazing Father in Heaven. I would also like to say that you all have amazing children and I was blessed to spend a week with them, seeing them all grow closer to God. I can't wait to see how we all grow in faith together once we get home. Praise God for an amazing week! UBI. Tori.

Well as promised while the gang is in the water i would give an update of our week at camp so far, the ride up here was a little depressing it pretty much rained the whole way, so the drive was a little longer than expected.  Upon arrival at camp the teens were greated with a very energetic group of summer missionaries.  Our girls got a cabin all to themselves and the guys had to share a dorm which is great because now they have made friends with guys from Flordia.  Monday evening the messy games began on the obsticle course the boys finished first and the girls well lets just say they finished, the night ended with a bon fire at the lake.  Tuesday was the first full day at camp where the camp host broke open the idea of who are you?  The Joy of Identity, and the Joy of Eternity, the teens got a chance to enter into the sacrament of reconciliation.  Our host broke open the topics of Heaven and Hell and what Jesus meant to Humanity.  Tuesdays activities were organized free time, and the teens that shall we say sports is not their thing swamped to the Art barn where they were able to work on crafts and sit withh the musicians and jam a while.  Wednesday our host broke open the Joy of Compassion, we learned that compassion is not nessessarily feeling sorry for someone, but suffering along with them, "Come"-to be with and "Passion"-to suffer.  Activities of the day was high and low ropes course.  Today Thursday the group as I said earlier is on the water, but when they return our host will break open the Idea of the Joy of Love, we will adore our Lord in Eucharistic adoration many of our teens express that this is their favorite thing to do, to just be with Jesus in his Eucharistic presence.  as time permits I will try to update this blog again, pictures are eaisier to load as you've seen.  PLEASE, PLEASE continue to pray for your teen and for us, as leaders by this time we need a little extra prayer cover, God Bless you and check back soon.

Wednesday evening prayer service, hearts have been moved and changed, the teen responded in an amazing way!

Small group discussion after the elements

More low ropes challenge our teens really stepped up followed instructions and I think grew a little in their understanding of what Catholic brotherhood means.

Low ropes elements, team building challenge.

ART BARN JAM SESSION

So far at camp

PLEASE forgive us but the first day is so crazy we the core team is so weary from the trip we just went to bed last night. Your teens are amazing with the theme Radiant Joy this was broken open in a big waylast night. The teens were asked Who they are both who do they say that they are and who others say that they are. More importantly are they the person God created them to be. After an evening on the obsticle course which St Marys guys finished first we ended the night with. Chance to ask God face to face Who am I. As we adored our Lord in the blessed sacrament, in adoration. We will update later on tonight after the teens are down for the night.
